Here is a blog horderve of training camp to satisfy your curiosity while I process through the waterfall of information thrown at me for 11 days!

What did you do?

Mainly we actually sat in sessions ( butt was soooreee), learning almost everything from Kingdom, to cultural windows, team time, to SO MUCH WORSHIP-two amazing hours a day to be exact. We also had cultural days! Plus I spent super early mornings stretching and spending time in His word.

What are cultural days?

Cultural days are days devoted to a certain region or activity such as Asia, Africa, India, South America, travel days, homecoming, women’s/men days, etc. We got to experience the food as well as dressing the part!

What did living conditions look like?

Hannah and I shared a two person tent which was a lot bigger than I imagined it would be! My sleeping pad loved to hug the outside which was slightly terrifying during the downpour of rain we got-I REALLY didn’t want to get wet.

We bathed by using bucket showers which was actually kinda fun! We filled up a bucket of fresh hose water, brought it to a shower stall and used a cup to wash our body and rinse. I also used the hose once to rinse my hair-natural soap takes forever to rinse out!!

We packed up and moved A LOT doing different scenarios—-packs getting stolen, ministry host, going to Africa, actually being washed out from rain. We got good at packing up our stinky gear.

How was the food?

Cliff bars became my best friends. I think my metabolism shot up fast which was why I was hungry and thirsty so much, but the food was WAY better than expected, and they gave SO much of it. I loved trying weird cultural foods such as black duck eggs, crickets, and eating lots of beans and rice!

Favorite part?

Meeting my team, putting names to faces, learning how many of us love hugs and physical touch was amazing! Did so much hair braiding hair! Love having 25 more sisters and 5 more brothers!! I have been so excited to experience more community and my squad is amazing!

Seeing the Holy Spirit move and create better Biblical foundations for my faith was incredible.

What is the difference between a squad and team??

My squad is all 30 of us—-W Squad.

My team is made up of six of us that I will be living with and working with the first fourish months at least-I hope longer!- of the race. Our team is called O’hana which means family (haven’t seen that movie though haha), and we already have become a family and love each other so much! My team is made up of me, Jo, Caitie, Eric, TJ, and Hudson.

What role are you on the team?

I am so excited to be the storyteller leader for O’hana!! Most of you know I have loved vlogging this last year and a half, writing is so much fun, and though I don’t have all the fancy equip, capturing live in photography is a fun hobby. So…. They have given me the opportunity to be the cheerleader for my team to get more blog subscribers, cast vision, help them reach goals, and be able to share the stories we as a team will see God create! This is such a fun role for me, and I am honored that it was given to me that I may grow and help others grow through it!!

What did you not expect?

I expected to be outside more. The air-conditioning was amazing, but those last few days of sunshine were calling all of us outside.

Also, after only a few days, we as a squad all felt like we had known each other for years. Can’t even describe how much love is on our team.

How was the hike?

It was amazing! I have lost maybe 15-20lbs in the last month and have SO much more energy because of it. I finished the 2ish mile hike in 29 minutes-jogging most of it- which enabled me to back track and help cheer some of my teammates on to finish!

How was the storyteller training?

It was so nice to get into training camp slowly. The training threw out so much information,—honestly training camp is a waterfall— and I learned some fun editing tips as well as how to have more effective captions for my social media posts.

What is the Kingdom Foundations training?

I am excited to announce that I am going back to Gainesville early to do the Kingdom Foundations training to dig deeper into the training we received at camp. I have an enormous hunger to learn more, be poured into by the staff and leaders, and solidify what I believe and why as well as getting even further preparation for sharing the Kingdom on the Race! This training will be from July 7 to launch!
