11 QUESTIONS PERTAINING TO THE WORLD RACE

// HERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS I- AS WELL AS MY TEAMMATES AND OTHER WORLD RACERS- HAVE BEEN ASKED //

  • WHAT IS THE WORLD RACE?

The World Race is a ministry created eleven years ago under Adventures in Missions (AIM) to partner with more than 1,100 ministry partners in 80+ countries which exists to send young men and women to the hungry, broken, sick, wounded world, discipling and training them to further the Kingdom of God. So far there are over 4,500 world racer alumni, each has a beautiful story of the hundreds of stories they gained over the 11 month long race.

  • WHEN ARE YOU GOING?

Training with my team will be June 5-15, 2019, in Georgia, then we launch from an international airport August 1st of 2019! This trip will be 11 months long total-almost a full year!

  • WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

We spend about 3-4 weeks in each country serving and ministering the missionaries already in place, living in community and doing miscellaneous ministry. We are given a general idea of what is to be expected, but they do not give us all the details in case something changes or we become to focused and looking forward to a certain ministry and neglect the one we are currently serving with.

  • HOW MUCH DOES THIS COST?

The total sum I have to raise is $19,200-check the bar at the top of my blog to see how much God has provided so far! This cost covers plane tickets-except to and from training and to and from launch- bus rides, food, housing, insurance, counseling, etc. I am no longer in charge of the money when it gets in my fund. It is tax deductible and non refundable.

I will also have to raise a little more-about $2000-for gear-unless God provides gear donations and transportation to and from training and to and from launch.

There are fundraising deadlines such as:

$5000 by May 17, 2019

$10,000 by July 18, 2019

$13,000 by September 30, 2019

FULLY FUNDED by November 30, 2019

If you feel led by God to give, please do not hesitate to-every penny counts!

I and my team have been praying that we can ALL be fully funded by launch so that we can focus on the ministries without having to focus time on fundraising!

  • HOW DO YOU CARRY 11 MONTHS OF STUFF?

This is something I am still trying to figure out. I will have a large pack full of most of my bulk gear including sleeping, tent, clothes, etc-this will most likely be a 50-70L pack.

Then I have my day pack which will carry all my electronics, Bible, journal, extra clothes, pillow that I would need for flights, etc.

Also, praying very often about bringing a guitar since I love community worship so much. Praying either that I bring my full sized fender guitar or finding a good sounding travel or 3/4 sized guitar. We’ll see what happens!

If you are interested in donating gear, please contact me!

  • ARE YOU GOING BY YOURSELF?

No, actually, this is one of the parts of the trip I am most excited about! I have a huge whole family of teammates-both men and women ages 21-35- with me as I go. There will in the end be 30-50 of us total, but we actually separate into groups of 7 during the month. So we have one big team that breaks off every month to serve certain ministries in groups of seven! Then, at the end of the month, our mentors and leaders come visit us and we do a debrief sesh.

  • WHERE DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THIS?

I actually heard about it through a FB add which is odd because most of the time FB adds are usually about things you have searched on google or safari already-of which I had not been searching missionary trips before…God works in mysterious ways!

  • WHY DO YOU WANT TO GO?

To put it in a one sentence phrase is about as difficult as saying the alphabet backwards in 10 seconds flat. I think about Ruth how she told Naomi “where ever you go, I will go.” Or Mordacai telling Esther “Perhaps this is what you have been created to do?” This isn’t just about serving the missionaries for me. I want to see God’s heart in the world, not just in my own culture. I want to see Him work miracles and train me up as His warrior daughter, the lioness He has called me to be. My longing for helping hurting women heal just pulls me even more to wanting to go on this race to see women in many different cultures, so then I can better connect with them and with them to Jesus. I yearn for community that honors Christ and has radical faith. There is so so much more. If you have deeper questions, please ask me!

  • WHAT WILL YOU DO AFTER THE RACE?

I literally have NO idea what I will be doing or where I would be living after the race. I am up for about anything-having my horses again and getting married to a man after God’s heart plus starting my own family would of course be icing on the cake!

  • I THOUGHT YOU DIDN’T LIKE TRAVELING?

I didn’t actually-I hated it-I hated change. I loved staying at home, and I am still a homebody, but God has been working on my heart to open up and be available to new experiences and adventures and not become trapped in my own comfort zone. So, now, I actually WANT to travel-God is truly amazing in how He works!

  • HOW DO YOU SEE GOD IN THIS?

God has showed me and prepared me for this for years actually. Learning to minimize and live in small quarters in an RV with my three brothers and parents, living with four roommates in a cabin, learning who I am and what I believe in Christ, surrendering my control of wanting to stay home for fear of change, yearning to serve and minister to women of all cultures, the unwavering urge to be able to carry everything I own-ALL of this before I even heard about the world race. ALL of it applies to this race. None of it can be coincidence for God is not the God of accidents.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me any way you please!

I hope this answered some of your questions!
